About the Master Programs - Ho Chi Minh City University of Law

Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW) stands proudly as the only university in Southern Vietnam that offers training programs in the full breadth of five majors of law, including:

  • Constitutional Law and Administrative Law
  • Civil Law and Civil Procedural Law
  • Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law
  • Economic Law
  • International Law

In addition to it, ULAW plans to launch a master program on Economic Management. This will be ULAW's first postgraduate program in economics, run by the Faculty of Business Management.

Enrollment method: including application screening combined with interviews with the Professional board. Enrolment process consists of two main steps:

1. Application screening: Based on academic results at undergraduate level; priority criteria; research achievements, work experience, etc.

2. Interviewing: The Enrollment Committee will directly interview the candidates about their background knowledge and understanding of the major registered.

Foreign language requirements:

Candidates must have a foreign language certificate of Level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam or equivalent international foreign language certificates that are valid as of the date of application; or a bachelor's degree or higher diploma in foreign languages. Candidates without a foreign language certificate must take the English Exam organized by the University and must have a "pass" result.

Additional requirements for foreign candidates:

Applicants who are foreign citizens must meet the language requirements as follow:

  • For Vietnamese-taught programs: Applicants are required to have achieved Vietnamese language proficiency of Level 4 (or higher) or have graduated from a university program taught in Vietnamese.
  • For programs taught in foreign languages: Applicants must have a bachelors degree or higher diploma in the language of instruction (or the program has at least 50% of the subjects taught in that language); or a foreign language certificate equivalent to Level 4 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework used for Vietnam.

 

Application dates: The LLM program at ULAW receives applications twice a year (tentatively in October and December). The exact application dates will be determined according to the school's annual enrollment plan, which will be publicly announced on the university website. Applicants can contact the Graduate Education Affairs Office for detailed guidance.

Program duration: 1.5 years (18 months).
